Tornadoes of October 2026, against their warnings
Every tornado the National Weather Service surveyed this month, set against the warnings Calchis recorded as they were issued. For each one: did it touch down inside a tornado warning that was already in effect, and how long had that warning been out?

How this is read
A tornado counts as warned when the first point of its surveyed path lies inside a tornado warning issued at or before the touchdown time and expiring after it. The time shown is from the earliest such warning. Times are UTC.
- Not the National Weather Service's official verification, which scores warnings against Storm Data with its own rules.
- Only the touchdown point is tested against each warning, not the whole path; a path that left the polygon later still counts as warned.
- Touchdown times and paths are the NWS surveyors' (Damage Assessment Toolkit). Some are estimated from radar, and surveys are still being added for recent events, so a month's totals can grow.
- Warning polygons and expiry times are as Calchis recorded them from api.weather.gov as they were issued; a warning shortened later by a follow-up statement is counted to its original expiry.
